Healthy Oleanders

The Village Gardeners is in the planning  stage of the
“Valleyheart Riverwalk" Beautification Project, Phase-2.  This phase-2 will likely pickup where the Earth Day 2008 Event left off.  We also have an entry in the City of Los Angeles' "Community Beautification Matching
Grant" program called
"Steps to the Riverwalk"
(Conceptual Renderings to be posted soon).

Results of Oleander Leaf Scorch Disease

Our goal is the restoration of the plant life along the river,
consisting of drought tolerant - disease resistant California native varieties.

Ultimately, we would like to continue with restoration on both sides of the river from Coldwater Canyon to Moorpark Street.  The Village Gardeners needs necessary permits to perform any work on this county-owned land and is currently in the application process.

The Richard Lillard Outdoor Classroom

Along the Los Angeles River at the intersection of Valleyheart Drive (south side of river) and Longridge Avenue is the Richard Lillard Outdoor Classroom. The Village Gardeners hopes to successfully promote field trip outings for an educational river program for the grade schools in this area.

This area is also ideal for hosting funderaiser concerts and other community events. Please contact us if you have an interested performing group.

We give community service hours.
